I just got these ads through from the guys at Salomon. The shot is of Dane Tudor and was taken while I was skiing in Haines. Believe it or not this was Dane’s first line of the trip. No warm-up, straight into it. This was also the first line I have ever shot in Alaska and it turned out to be one of my favorite shots of all time.
The beauty about shooting with the Canon 1dMK IV is that you have a huge 16MP image. Combined with the quality of the Canon 300mm f2.8 L IS lens, Salomon were able to crop a horizontal advert out of this same shot, and still have quality enough to run it as a double page magazine spread.
They also cropped into it a bit tighter and ran an advert for the Jacket that Dane is wearing. It’s great to be able to provide that kind of flexibility to your clients!
