Powder Photo Annual – Sammy Carlson

Getting photos in a Photo Annual is always an honor, especially Powder Magazine in N.America.  This photo of Sammy Carlson was taken in Niseko, Japan.  We had been busting our asses shooting photos for days and we decided one night just to go and have a shred at one of the night ski resorts. We just did a ton of laps on the chair lift tearing around in this blizzard having an awesome time. I only got my camera out once all night for a split second when Sammy said he was going to pop this little hit. Sometimes you just need to go have fun and the shots will come to you. No setup , no flashes just a spur of the moment idea.

You may be surprised to learn that this was shot with a Canon 50mm f1.8 !  What can I say, it produces a great image! It was fitted to a Canon 1dMKIV and the setting was 1/1000 , f1.8 , iso 2500.

I buy all of my photography gear from the guys at B&H Photo.
