In a few days time I’ll post a lighting diagram for a few shots that were taken on this feature in Edmonton. In the meantime, let’s hear your best guesses as to what equipment I used and where to get this photo of Mike Henitiuk. If you don’t know what gear I have ,take a look at my Gear List first. Bonus points for guessing the camera and lens combination. I know some of you have asked about this photo in the past so if I already explained it to you then don’t spoil the fun!

Elinchrom ranger for the rider, top right from riders left slightly from behind. another sb-80dx on high zoom aiming at the rider.
The pink lighting could be natural from a bar? or sb-80dx with pink color gel. then on the pipes a another sb-80dx on full zoom.
then for the camera i cant tell the difference between a 1d and 5dII from the pic but either 5d II with 24-105 or 1d IV with 17-40?
with specs SS of 1/250th aperture of 6.3 iso 250?

Elinchrom Rangers x 4 gelled and at least 3 speedlites! You own SB’s not 580’s so I’ll go with SB600 zoomed to 105 for the highlight on the gas line and at least 2 for sidefill. Pocket wizards too?

Ranger lighting the rider up and right.
Speedlight with a pink gel for the wall effect.
Snooted or gridded with barn doors speedlight for the highlight on the pipes.
5D MII with a 24-105.
Or I could be way off.
Elinchrom ranger in front with gel, also a sb-80dx@105mm without gel for the pipes. then upper right 2x sb-80dx@70mm without gel. Canon 1d MKIV with canon 50mm.

RX a low to the ground left, behind and about 45 degrees off the angle of the camera, gelled pink
RX camera right, pointed pretty much directly at the wall and skier, 90+ degrees off the angle of the camera.
Speedlight, probably some sort of modifier (snoot?) a little to the right of the first RX.
shot with a 1d and the 24mm f1.4 because if I had the gear you had and I wanted this shot I would feel like a boss with this combo in my hand. And that’s part of the fun.
