This image was taken this past winter on a days skiing at my home resort of Whistler Blackcomb. Jeff Thomas from Salomon Freeski TV had invited me along to ski with Colston as they show in the burn zone on Blackcomb. A few summers ago a lightning strike on the mountain left an area near Crystal chair burnt out and it creates some really interesting trees to play amongst. I used my Canon 8-15mm fisheye lens at about 10mm on a Canon 1D MK4 to shoot wide enough to get the trees curving back in at the top of the frame so you really got the impression that Colston is surrounded.
It was a deep and stormy day so of course I was wrapped up in my Arcteryx gear to keep me dry!!
